HAMİTABAT NATURAL GAS FIRED COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT RENOVATION PROJECT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESMENT (EIA) REPORT
The Hamitabat CCPP Renovation Project EIA Report was prepared in order to ensure that all potential adverse environmental or social impacts arising from the project activities through construction and operation phases are identified and to determine necessary measures to eliminate or minimize the impacts. The renovation project has an EIA Positive decision from Republic of Turkey Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning.
In order to determine baseline water quality, samples were collected from Tatarköy Creek and from wells around project site and measurements were conducted by an accredited and licensed laboratory. To determine the existing noise level at and around the project site, background noise measurements were conducted by an accredited company. In addition to these measurements, four soil samples were collected from four soil quality sampling points located at the four main directions surrounding the power plant site to determine the baseline soil quality around the project site. Baseline air quality characteristics of the project area are also determined in the scope of the EIA report.

HAMITABAT NATURAL GAS COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT RENOVATION PROJECT ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESMENT (ESIA) REPORT
The objective of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) studies of HPP Renovation Project is to ensure that all potential negative environmental or social impacts arising from the project activities are identified and where possible, negative impacts are eliminated or minimized through implementation of appropriate design measures. Where it has not been possible to eliminate or minimize impact through design, the EIA process identifies those environmental and social mitigation measures that have been developed in conjunction with the engineering team and stakeholders and which will be implemented by HEAS as the project owner. Another key aim is to provide a mechanism for community participation and dissemination of information.
The ESIA studies for HPP Renovation Project are being carried out in accordance with the national legislation and the guidelines of the International Finance Institutions, ensuring that good national and international environmental practices are adopted.
